(Flood Early Warning System)

Update – 25 July 2026 | 1730 hrs 25 Jul 2026

The southern catchment of the Jhelum Basin received moderate to heavy rainfall for a few hours during the morning and afternoon. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall activity is expected to decrease over South Kashmir and gradually shift towards Central and North Kashmir. In response to the rainfall, water levels in the southern catchment are expected to register a marginal rise and may temporarily slow the rate of recession downstream up to Wular Lake. However, the overall receding trend of water levels is expected to continue throughout the Jhelum Basin up to Wular Lake. The water levels at all gauge stations in South and Central Kashmir have now receded below the Warning Level.
